I didn't grow up playing Flowers of the Forest...  

...although it's a classic tune for the great highland bagpipes!

It wasn't until I had a request to play Flowers of the Forest on the bagpipes at an outdoor funeral that I learned how to play this beautiful tune.

The outdoor funeral was amidst the lightly treed foothills nestled beside the great Canadian Rockies. The mysterious waves of mist were rolling off the morning mountains, encircling the little countryside commentary while I piped the family to the graveside. There could not have been a better tune to play for such an occasion!
